
Our mission
CERN QTI organises research on quantum technologies and develops projects investigating the impact of quantum technologies for CERN and the HEP community, while actively seeking to extend applications of CERN native technologies to the quantum domain.
CERN QTI was first approved in 2020, and has since evolved from an initial exploratory phase, built around a large set of use cases and demonstrators, to a more focused approach studying the areas of quantum sensing, networks and computing domains, where CERN expertise and unique facilities, can create tangible impact. Our goal today is to build specific capacity and technology platforms and to work towards a coherent, sustainable research plan on quantum technologies to address the challenges CERN and the HEP community will face in the coming years.
It was designed to establish proofs of concept and prototypes with the goal to develop them towards more sustained activities eventually embedded in the CERN research program. All QTI activities are aligned with (or stem from) CERN research and technology expertise and integrate CERN Member States and/or International quantum initiatives.
