To mark the first anniversary of World Quantum Day, CERN is organising a scientific symposium comprising a series of talks highlighting different areas of the quantum research field. From the history of quantum information to examples of concrete quantum-related projects already under way at CERN, the discussions will explore the past, present and future of quantum science and technology within the high-energy physics (HEP) community and beyond.

Among the keynote speakers are John Ellis and Nicolas Gisin. In their joint opening talk, they will outline the early days of quantum science at CERN and what that pioneering effort means for modern research. Their talk will be followed by three presentations on experimental quantum physics, quantum computing applications and the CERN Quantum Technology Initiative (QTI).

At the end of the session, there will be a Q&A session for attendees wanting to find out more about quantum technologies and the way they could benefit our society.
